The Bakery

Williams the Baker, founded in 1927, is a traditional family baker situated in the heart of Wool, near Lulworth, Dorset. Since its beginning, the bakery has run a successful, award winning business, manufacturing traditional bread and cakes to an unbeatable standard. In 2007 the bakery scooped the West Country Specialities Championship, beating 560 entries from bakeries across the region including Cornwall and Gloucestershire.

 

2009 has been a fantastic year for Williams the Baker, winning not only the 'Open Confectionary Championship' but scooping the main prize as the Best West Country Baker.

 

With shops in Dorchester, Swanage, Wareham, Weymouth and Wool, Williams the Baker supplies most of the Dorset coast with fresh bread and produce daily. The bakery shops are very popular and have an esteemed reputation amongst visitors and residents of this beautiful local area.

After 80 years in the baking industry, Williams the Bakers are proud of the traditional techniques and skills they still use to this day. They warmly welcome The Dorset Flapjack Company Ltd to its bakery.

 

 Williams the Baker and the Dorset Flapjack Company Ltd learn from each other the art of baking as an organic process that’s ever changing. The Master Bakers at ‘Williams’ aid them with their knowledge of food and techniques so that the development of new products is the finest available.
